Paralegal: Shelley Riley

As a long term resident of Surrey, I came to the practice of law at the tender age of 35 after prior careers including in the construction industry (as an Apprentice then Journeyman); as a teacher/educator (including in Adult Education, Criminology, Criminal Justice); and as a counsellor.

My legal career began as a solicitor (i.e. lawyer who does not go to Court) involved in real estate, land development and corporate/commercial matters. I then practiced civil dispute litigation with a strong interest in family law matters and resolution of family law disputes...for some 30+ years I have focused exclusively on family law as my speciality. In a blended family with my life partner of 39 years, the proud father of three adult sons and now as "Papa" to my five grandchildren (four girls and one boy) I understand the importance of "family" in the practice of family law. My experience in the real world combined with 32+ years of legal experience allows me to provide high quality legal services to clients from all walks of life. Having litigated family law issues at all levels of Court in BC, it is clear to me that most family law matters, in particular those relating to children, are best resolved outside the Court process. As the senior family lawyer at Peterson Stark Scott I lead and mentor a team of experienced family lawyers. Our task is to work with you to find the best resolution of your family law issues.

If your family law matters can be resolved outside of Court then so much the better for all concerned...the family law dispute resolution professionals at Peterson Stark Scott can use negotiation, mediation and collaborative family law processes to help achieve your goals. If out of Court processes are not appropriate then our team provides thoughtful, effective and client focused representation for you at Court and at family law arbitrations.
